Try These Healdsburg Restaurant Patios for Outdoor Dining in Wine Country

Enjoying an outdoor meal in Healdsburg is always on my list of travel recommendations. Whether you’re from Sonoma, San Francisco or San Antonio, you’ll find something enchanting about our quaint town’s energy and scenery–both downtown on the Plaza or at a hilltop winery just outside town. The parklets erected during the pandemic are still allowed in downtown Healdsburg, so many restaurants that didn’t have patios before the pandemic have joined local favorites to offer more indoor and outdoor dining options in 2021. Here’s a foodie hit list of the best Healdsburg restaurants with outdoor dining for your next trip to one of the best small towns in America.

Jordan’s Alfresco Winery Lunch in Healdsburg Returns

The French-inspired wine producer, located just outside of downtown Healdsburg, had to close its indoor tasting salon and popular estate tour excursion during the pandemic. The challenge inspired Jordan Winery’s chef to transform their expansive terrace into a bistro-style restaurant called Paris on the Terrace. Due to its success, the pop-up has returned from May through August and again in October. The menu features French classics with a California twist (think shaved carrot salad, salmon rillettes or chocolate mousse), served four days a week with seating at noon. If you’re looking for another outdoor wine and food experience, try Jordan’s Estate Tour & Tasting–a moveable feast where you’ll enjoy alfresco wine and culinary tastings across the 1,200-acre estate. Offered Thursday through Sunday from June through October.

Barndiva Healdsburg Restaurant Open with Patio Seating

Barndiva Offers Lovely Outdoor Garden Dining

Barndiva offers outdoor dining under its lush mulberry trees or on a covered patio connected to the restaurant, allowing diners to enjoy the eclectic-fresh menu outdoors in two settings. Once seated, guests can contact the hospitality team by phone or text to place their wine, cocktail and food orders. Chef Jordan Rosas joined during the pandemic, and he’s mixing up the menu, though the chèvre croquettes, BD burger and fried chicken sandwich remain all-day menu mainstays. Reservations are required for garden seating.

Valette Patio to Remain Open in 2021

Dustin Valette and his staff built a lovely outdoor dining room during the pandemic, allowing diners to enjoy the chef’s farm-fresh cuisine in a lovely sidewalk setting surrounded by plants and the bustling sound of friends reconnecting over dinner. We hope that this parklet-style dining room will be allowed to stay open indefinitely, but time will tell. Word is that parklets will be allowed to stay in Healdsburg until at least January 2023.

Bravas is located inside an old craftsman-style home with an equally charming backyard patio, hidden away from street view. Bravas’s backyard dining room is surrounded by lush orange trees and anchored by an open-air bar. The Stark family’s eclectic menu highlights small bites inspired by traditional and modern Spanish cooking, with a California wine country twist. Bravas offers a selection of local and Spanish wines, sangrias, and Spain-inspired cocktails, including a variety of signature gin and tonics. Outdoor dining is available year-round at the backyard patio or the restaurant’s covered back porch.

Hidden Courtyard for Outdoor Patio Dining at Campo Fina

One of my favorite Healdsburg restaurant patios, Campo Fina serves Italian fare inside its brick-walled dining room, but its hidden courtyard dining room also scores high on the charm scale. Transport yourself to Italy with Chef Ari Rosen’s wood-fired pizzas, Italian-centric wine list and refreshing cocktails, all served overlooking a bocce ball court.

Spoonbar Garden Dining Room Returns

During the pandemic, Spoonbar, located inside the H2 hotel, created a dining room in its garden behind the hotel lobby. Diners were so charmed by the sounds of the nearby creek and birds chirping in the surrounding trees that the owners have decided to keep the Spoonbar garden dining room open this year with no plans to return to offering only indoor dining anytime soon. Barndiva chef alumns, Thomas Mulligan and Pancho, now helm the kitchen, and are creating some of the most exciting food since Spoonbar’s opening a decade ago.

Dry Creek Kitchen Offers Two Outdoor Dining Areas

Chef Charlie Palmer’s Dry Creek Kitchen continues to serve dinner indoors and outdoors, but Healdsburg’s white-tablecloth fine dining restaurant added a second dining room during the pandemic. Guests can enjoy the intimate charm of downtown life with outdoor dining on the restaurant’s main patio, which overlooks Healdsburg Plaza, or opt for dining in the courtyard hidden behind adjoining Hotel Healdsburg.

Don’t miss their impressive tequila bar menu, featuring seasonal fresh margaritas, from pomegranate to blood red orange. Make a reservation through Tock.com or call the restaurant directly to book.

Other Healdsburg Restaurants with Outdoor Dining: The sidewalk high-top tables added during the pandemic at Journeyman Meat Company and Willi’s Seafood & Raw Bar will remain this year, KinSmoke barbecue and Duke’s Spirited Cocktails are keeping their parklet dining areas on the Plaza and Healdsburg Bar & Grill continues to serve casual fare at Healdsburg’s largest outdoor dining room. Also, Single Thread’s Outdoor Dining ’Usu-Zan is reportedly ending on May 31, hence its absence from the list.
