Finding the Best Lunch in Healdsburg
In the foodie haven of Healdsburg, deciding where to eat a delicious dinner is no easy feat with dozens of restaurants to choose from. Lunch is another story. Some of the best restaurants in Healdsburg are only open for dinner–such as SingleThread, Valette, Spoonbar and Dry Creek Kitchen–and many eateries are closed on Monday or Tuesday. Don’t plan your biggest meals of the trip at the beginning of the week. Fortunately, a few great chefs open their restaurants for lunch on weekends only. Here’s your guide to finding the best lunch in Healdsburg, with hours and safe outdoor seating noted.
Finding the Best Lunch in Healdsburg (updated September 1, 2020)
Fine Dining Lunch at Barndiva in Healdsburg
Open for lunch Wednesday-Sunday
One of the best kept secrets for fine dining lunch in Healdsburg, Barndiva opens five days a week at noon. Barndiva has been serving Michelin-star quality wine country cuisine for nearly 15 years in Healdsburg. Modern takes on classic dishes like duck confit and Dungeness crab sandwich find their way onto the ever-changing menu. Don’t miss the goat cheese croquettes or the excellent wine list. This isn’t white tablecloth fine dining, but very elevated food and wine in an elegant setting. Outdoor and socially distant seating available. Closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. The restaurant also closes for a few hours between lunch and dinner service Wednesday-Sunday. Reservations are available on OpenTable.
Campo Fina Offers Wine Country Taste of Italy Lunch
Open for lunch Wednesday-Sunday
A favorite Healdsburg restaurant for locals and tourists alike, Campo Fina has been committed to daily lunch service since its opening in 2012. Fresh salads, panini sandwiches and pizzas are the stars of the menu, though the aracini ball appetizer should not be missed. Open for lunch Wednesday through Sunday starting at noon for outdoor dining only or curbside pickup. Be sure to enter the restaurant through the back alley, next to Banshee’s tasting room. Ample space and one of my favorite outdoor patios in Healdsburg. Don’t miss Campo’s meatballs, one of the best appetizers in Healdsburg.
Jordan Winery Opens for New Bistro-Style Lunch
Open Thursday-Monday
Although Jordan doesn’t technically have a restaurant, the French-inspired winery has a full-time culinary staff, and its chef has pivoted from creating small bites for indoor tastings to serving an alfresco lunch on the winery terrace—dubbed Paris on the Terrace—with one seating four days a week. Closed Monday through Wednesday.
Spanish Lunch in Healdsburg at Bravas Bar de Tapas
Open for lunch Wednesday-Sunday
Healdsburg’s only Spanish-inspired restaurant is open for lunch Wednesday through Sunday beginning at 11:30 a.m. Service continues straight through until dinner. Located one block off the Healdsburg square in a vintage craftsman house, Bravas serves small plates tapas style in the house’s living room or in the restaurant’s open-air backyard patio. Outdoor seating includes a dining area shaded by orange trees and high-top and back porch tables. Don’t miss the croquetas, bocadillos and shishito peppers with chorizo. Known for its eclectic wine list. Reserve your table on OpenTable.
Healdsburg Stalwart Willi’s Seafood & Raw Bar
Open for lunch Wednesday-Sunday
One of the longest-running restaurants in Healdsburg, Willi’s Seafood & Raw Bar has served as a second outpost of the beloved Willi’s Wine Bar for 15 years. (The original location in Santa Rosa was destroyed in the Tubbs Fire in 2017 but has reopened in a new location closer to downtown Santa Rosa). Owned and operated by the Stark family (like nearby Bravas), Willi’s has always been a go-to Healdsburg restaurant for lunch service. Also a small plates concept, Willi’s is known for deep, Sonoma-centric wine list, ceviches, oysters, delicious salads and dozens of other hot dishes. The coconut-infused tuna tartare and the spinach salad with goat cheese and lardons are two of my favorites. Now open for outdoor patio dining with socially distant protocols in place. Closed Mondays and Tuesdays.
Chalkboard Restaurant Serves Up Small Plates
Open for lunch Saturday and Sunday only
For its first few years, vintner Bill Foley’s Chalkboard, located at the Le Mars Hotel, was open for lunch daily. Now, the small plates Healdsburg restaurant opens its doors for brunch and lunch on Saturday and Sunday only. The hyper-seasonal menu draws ingredients from Chalk Hill Winery’s gardens. Pork belly biscuits, vegetable side dishes (order the latest rendition of grilled corn) and homemade pastas aren’t to be missed. View the menu on their home page. Patio seating is available Saturday and Sunday after 11:30 a.m., as well as for dinner Wednesday through Sunday.
SingleThread Restaurant + Inn Offers Michelin Three-Star Rooftop Garden Wine Bar
Open Saturday and Sunday, 2:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. and Wednesday through Friday, 5:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
Through the end of September, SingleThread will have their rooftop gardens open as a casual summer wine bar five days a week, closed Monday and Tuesday. Wine Director, Rusty Rastello, will be curating a special by the glass and by the bottle list of Champagnes as well as local wines and Old World selections. A small menu of items from the SingleThread kitchen will also be available to complement the wine experience including produce from our farm as well as artisanal products from the local community. Bookings can be made on Tock as of August 1st and walk-ins will also be welcome. Dinner at SingleThread is an incredible experience, and I’m sure their rooftop happy hour is equally stunning. SingleThread has also recently partnered with Kistler Vineyards and they are now offering an outdoor Summer Wine Dinner series Thursday-Monday until the end of October. Learn more on their website.
